********************** * * * CALL FOR PAPERS * * * ********************** MIT Student Workshop on High-Performance Computing in Science and Engineering Saturday, September 27, 1997 MIT Endicott House The MIT Laboratory for Computer Science is organizing the seventh annual Student Workshop to promote the exchange of ideas among students working in research areas related to high-performance computing in science and engineering. Students --- graduate, undergraduate, and postdoctoral --- are invited to submit 2-page abstracts describing recent work. Abstracts will appear in proceedings which will be distributed at the workshop, and which will subsequently appear as an LCS Technical Report. About 18 of the submitted abstracts will be selected for presentation. Submissions are encouraged in any area of computing, including (but not limited to): Algorithms Computational fluid dynamics Computational modeling Computer architecture Computer-aided design Distributed Computing Error Estimation Fault tolerance Graphics and visualization Interconnection networks Iterative methods Simulation Storage hierarchies Submissions: ============ Authors are requested to submit a single-sided original and 15 double-sided, 3-hole-punched copies of a 2-page abstract. Also, via anonymous ftp to ftp://theory.lcs.mit.edu/workshop/1997/, a postscript copy of the abstract previewable by Ghostview, and HTML containing abstract title, authors, and links to any home pages. Detailed instructions, LaTeX templates, and HTML templates are available from ftp://theory.lcs.mit.edu/workshop/1997/instructions/ Please follow the electronic instructions as closely as possible, as the review and electronic distribution process will be automated. Papers may be submitted for publication only, in which case only one single-sided hardcopy is needed and the submission envelope should be clearly marked with "no talk". Format: The first page of the abstract must begin with a title, the authors' names, and MIT and e-mail addresses. Joint submissions by students are acceptable, but the student making the presentation should be listed as first author. Faculty coauthorship is not allowed, although student-written abstracts based on joint work with faculty members are permitted. The abstract should describe the essential ideas in the research and have a short bibliography that includes any papers or technical memoranda on which the abstract is based. Every abstract should have at least one figure, table, diagram, or photograph. A footnote on the bottom of the first page should identify the student's faculty supervisor and acknowledge research support.
